As most of you that keep up with current events already know, Haiti suffered a huge earthquake this week. Thousands of people are dead, and a country already plagued by immense poverty has suffered a blow it will take years to recover from. People all over the world are rallying, gathering supplies, volunteering to go to Haiti and help, making cash donations to reputable charities – all to try to do some small part to help our fellow man in a time of need. This is true Christianity in action.
In the meantime, one of America’s so-called religious leaders has opened his mouth and inserted his foot, yet again. Pat Robertson has made a statement saying that Haiti had brought this tragedy upon itself, for making *A pact with the Devil*. How dare he actually utter those words and call himself a Christian!
Now, I have been a believer most of my life. I have been raised to believe every Word of the Bible is the truth. I have a very hard time picturing Jesus Christ, if He were in Haiti today, standing in the midst of such devastation and death, saying “It’s your fault. Deal with it”. Instead, I think He would be weeping over the dead, comforting the living, and doing what He could to ease the suffering of the people. It’s what He did 2000 years ago. I have no reason to believe it would be different today. And for Pat Robertson to speak as he did offends me greatly, both as a Christian and as a human being. I can only hope and pray that his words do not turn others away from Christ. Please do not paint all Christians with Pat Robertson’s brush. That would be yet another tragedy in a world struggling with enough already.
So-Called Christianity
Last night, my husband was surfing web clips and such and ran across one that made my blood run cold. Seems there was a survey of the American people about 9/11. 30% could not remember the year it happened. The video started with that tidbit and then turned into a Jaywalking type thing where they stopped random people in the street and asked them questions about 9/11. Questions included what year it was, who was responsible, how many people were killed, and where the attacks happened. They gave multiple choice answers to many of the questions, yet people still got them wrong! According to some of the answers given, 9/11 happened in October 2000. 30,000 people were killed in New York alone, murdered in an attack by Buddists.
Have We the People gotten so complacent that the details of the worst terrorist attack on our soil have faded in our memories in less than a decade? Are we so wrapped up in our own lives that we have forgotten what our service men and women are STILL at war over? Do we just not care anymore?
I put part of the blame on human nature to not think on things that are unpleasant. It’s natural for horror to fade with time.
I put quite a bit of blame on the liberal controlled media. The same media who loves to turn the lives of famous people into a daily drama-filled soap opera, while ignoring what the President of the United States is doing. The same media who will announce how many military people were killed today (with a gleam in their eye), while neglecting to report anything positive that happens in our war. The same media who will, upon hearing a conservative make a speech, vilify, ridicule and crucify that person for weeks, while praising a liberal who says the same thing. This is the same liberal based media who decided to stop showing footage of the destruction on 9/11, because *it might make someone feel bad* (there’s that damn PC police again – see earlier post)
The American people OUGHT to feel bad when we think of 9/11. It ought to make us pissed off. We should know that 9/11 happened on Sept 11, 2001, that 3000 people lost their lives in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. We should know that the attack was masterminded by Muslim radicals hell bent on destroying America. And we should all stand up as one, and let them know they won’t destroy us. Not Muslim radicals, not the politics of the White House and not a liberal media hell bent on our destruction.
Ok, a friend of mine posted on her Facebook page last night about having a song stuck in her head. This morning I woke up with Sublime’s Santeria in my head. Don’t get me wrong – I like the song, but the same two lines over and over gets old. My problem now is what I call “The Wheels on the Bus” Syndrome. The “Wheels on the Bus” is probably the most hideous children’s song in the history of music, and it has a tendancy to get stuck in your head. The Syndrome is defined by having a song you like stuck in your head, driving you crazy, but you are afraid to try for another song, in fear that it will be as hideous as the “Wheels on the Bus”. Therefore, I believe I will stick with Sublime until something better comes along. In your opinion, what’s the worst song to get stuck in YOUR head?
I got up today and looked at the weather forecast. What I saw made me look up a few other things.
1. At 11AM EST today, none of the major cities in Georgia had temps above freezing.
2. Snow/Ice mix is predicted as far south as Albany, Georgia.
3. Temps are supposed to FALL by the weekend.
This is by no means much different than anywhere else in the US. So, just being curious, I Googled “record cold temperatures” Most of the whole first page of results listed notes about record cold temperatures – dated from 2008 and 2009! This year has been MUCH colder in my area than at this time the past 2 years. Don’t believe me? Google it yourself.
I really think Al Gore might want to find a new pet topic to keep his cash flow coming. Global warming just ain’t cutting it anymore. Maybe the coming of a new Ice Age would be more appropriate, Al.
Yep. Being PC is turning into one of the biggest dangers to your liberties, your property and even your very life. What started out as a stupid idea in the first place has elevated itself into one of the most dangerous “principles” that society today holds dear. The idea that those who serve and protect us cannot question someone in a suspicious situation has put the American people right in the path of our enemies. The fear that we might hurt the precious little feelings of a person or group of people has allowed criminal activity to run rampant. Whether it be the corner grocer worried about the hooded person lurking in aisle 3 or a Muslim with a bomb on a plane, our hands are tied. We can’t say or do anything unless they strike first, because we are locked in fear of offending the PC police.
I say screw that. It’s time to call a spade a spade. To defeat our enemies, we have to defend the same way they do. A drug dealer on a street corner in a primarily black neighborhood WILL look at a white man in a suit as a threat. He isn’t worried about hurting anyone’s feelings. It’s called self-preservation. It’s time we ALL got that type of mentality when it comes to the safety of the American people. If that means a few innocent people are delayed a bit, so be it.
You know, if I get stopped by a police officer because I am somewhere that a white woman wouldn’t typically be, and he questions it, I’d smile, answer his questions and THANK him for doing his job the way it SHOULD be done. I would NOT get my panties in a wad and start screaming about my rights being violated because he might have offended me. If you are one of those people who would scream about it, do the rest of us a favor. Reach in deep and grab hold of your poor pitiful little inner child – you know, the one who got picked last for the dodgeball team in third grade – wrap your hands around his throat, and choke the living shit out of him. It just might save your life one day.
Yeah, I said it. Michael Jackson is dead. A tragedy for his family and friends. But do we really have to see a show highlighting his *genius* every day? Or see all his albums back out in the music stores? Or see his picture posted all over? Really, he topped his career 20 years ago, people. Even this week, Billboard has him in the top 15. Good grief. Yeah, he wowed everyone with his moonwalk. Thriller was a good video. He wore one glove, big whoop. I never understood how people could just go crazy over him, and all the new profits coming now seems a bit like vultures picking over a carcass. He was in the public eye his whole life, he made some decent music, and lead an extremely disturbing personal life. Can’t we just let the man rest in peace, and give the rest of us a break?
For those who have paid attention, you know that there have been many retirements announced by members of the US Senate and House of Representatives over the past few months. Close to 2 dozen seats are going to be open just from retirements alone. The seats are divided almost equally between Republicans and Democrats. This makes me wonder……
Are the politicians in this country hearing the bells toll? Are they getting the message that politics as usual just doesn’t cut it with the American people anymore? Are they hearing that Americans don’t want a socialist government, with socialist policies? I certainly hope so. I don’t doubt that there will be many spirited election races for these open seats, and I hope that liberals get the message when the conservative backbone of this country turns out in force to make sure the liberal candidates are sent home. Are some opting for retirement instead of a concession speech?
It almost seems as if the tide is turning toward an unofficial third party, one that doesn’t label itself Democrat or Republican, but as conservative. A group of people who hold themselves to conservative principles, even if it goes against *the party line*
What I do know for sure is that many people I know, including myself will be turning out at every election, doing our part to send all the bedwetting liberal politicians home, with their tails between their legs.
One last note for all the liberal politicians who have turned a deaf ear to the American people…..Do not ask for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee.
Surfing around, I have heard something that disturbs me a bit about Rush Limbaugh and some liberals. Seems some libs wished Rush would just up and die this past week, when he was hospitalized with chest pains. Now, I love Rush. I wish him a speedy recovery. I don’t like Obama. Or Pelosi. Or a host of other politicos. I think they are dangerously deluded. I think they are out to destroy everything that made this country great. I wish they were never elected. I pray they are never reelected. I hope conservatives manage to slow down their plans for destruction long enough for the sane people to be elected. But do I wish them DEAD? No. Death is a big deal guys. To hate someone enough over their political views to wish them dead is obscene, hateful and more damaging than you realize. Just my opinion, something to think about…..
